There's no accounting for taste when it comes to food preferences, and it's endlessly entertaining to hear about the weird things other people like. From peanut butter and bacon sandwiches to chicken feet, you might not have tried some of these taste sensations (and you might not want to).
Strange Snacks and Sweet Treats We Love

Right now, I’m into those really expensive and keep eating them out of the fridge with a spoon as a little treat. It's definitely an odd choice (and not particularly cost-effective), but if you haven't tried them, you totally should.
Megan, our Content and Marketing Specialist, recalled an even weirder snack: "I forgot about that time I went through a burnt popcorn phase. I got mine burnt enough to char the inside of it into a ball, which made the whole house smell." Apparently, she was banned from this snack sometime in high school.
Here are some of our other faves, too:
- Charred Pop Tarts
- Half an avocado sprinkled with pepitas
- Marshmallows burned to a crisp
- Peanut butter and brown sugar sandwiches
- Orange peels
- Crickets (at least once in a while)
- Raw biscuit dough
- Coffee beans
Bizarre Beverages
Weirdness isn't just for snacking. We also enjoy a weird drink from time to time.
"I drink mushroom chai tea," Karen, our Content Director, shared. "It's not as weird as it sounds. It's functional chai — so it has mushrooms that have nutrients to help with focus, etc."
The tea Karen loves is . She says it's delicious.
These are a few of the other weird drinks we enjoy (or know people who enjoy):
- Kopi Luwak coffee (the coffee where the beans are partially digested by civets)
- Elderberry tea
- Pickle juice
- Straight balsamic vinegar
- Mugolio syrup cocktails
Unusual Savory Meals
When we're ready to have a whole weird meal, we have a few go-to favorites (plus some crazy stories about things other people have eaten).
Megan had one of the most horrifying weird food stories we've ever heard. "When I worked at the grocery store, I had someone buy six cans of pork brains with milk gravy, and I remember it to this day because of how weird it was," she said. Apparently, you can still buy these if you're feeling adventurous.
- Kraft Dinner with one box of macaroni and two packets of powder (no milk or butter)
- Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with dill pickle potato chips on them
- Peanut butter and bacon sandwiches
- Shatter bacon (bacon cooked so crisp it shatters)
- Uncooked spaghetti noodles
- Still frozen fries and waffles
- Cold Spaghetti-Os with franks
- Burned pizza crust
- Blood pudding
- Peanut butter and alfalfa sprout sandwiches
- Smelt
- Cold canned beans
- Burned sausage
- Still frozen peas
- Bone broth made with chicken feet
Some of the weirdest foods are health foods. "My doctor told me I wasn't eating enough protein," Karen shared, "so now I eat liquid egg whites with nutritional yeast in them to make them look like normal eggs."
Crazy Condiments
Sometimes, how and where you use a condiment can be considered a little bit weird.
Carrie, our Editorial Director, has a unique way of eating celery. "I eat celery dipped in that horrendously orange jarred queso dip," she said. "The celery is supposed to make it somewhat healthy."
We love this approach, which really works with a variety of condiments:
- Ketchup on apples
- Honey on all kinds of beans
- A whole lot of gravy on a tiny piece of bread
- Spoonfuls of plain butter
- Mustard on carrot sticks
- Uncooked ramen noodles as a salad topping
No Wrong Answer When It Comes to Foods
This collection of weird food preferences proves that there's no wrong answer when it comes to snacks and meals you love. As long as it's reasonably healthy (or at least not dangerous), enjoy!
